Information we collect
We collect only what's needed to run the app, enforce fair usage, and process your subscription. Here's the complete breakdown:

How we use it
- To authenticate you and keep your account working across app sessions.
- To run the AI-detection analysis you request, and return a result.
- To enforce free-tier daily limits and Pro-tier monthly quotas fairly.
- To activate and manage your subscription, and reflect the correct plan/features in the app.
- To provide customer support if you email us.
- To detect abuse — e.g. one device creating many free accounts to bypass limits.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Image & text scanning — exactly what happens
Because this is the core function of the app, here's the precise technical flow, with nothing glossed over:
Text detection
The text you paste or upload (including from PDF/DOC files) is sent securely to our detection service, which forwards it to a third-party AI-content-analysis API to generate a result. The text is processed for that single request and is not stored on our servers afterward.
Image detection
Your image is temporary on our server — by design:
- The image is uploaded to a temporary, private location on our server.
- It's analyzed by a third-party AI-detection service to determine if it's AI-generated.
- Immediately after analysis, the image is permanently deleted from our server — this happens automatically, whether the scan succeeds or fails.
- Any file that somehow survives this step is automatically swept and deleted within 1 hour by a scheduled cleanup process.
A copy of the image is also saved locally on your device only (not on our servers) so it can appear in your in-app History tab. You can delete individual history items or clear your entire history at any time from the History tab.
Third-party services we use
We rely on a small number of trusted infrastructure providers to run the app. Each only receives the minimum data needed to do its job:

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data in transit through their systems.
Data retention
If you delete your account, your account record and subscription status are removed from our systems. Locally stored history lives only on your device and is removed if you uninstall the app or clear it manually from the History tab.
App permissions

You can grant or revoke Camera and Photos permissions any time from your device's system Settings. Revoking them only disables the related feature — the rest of the app keeps working.
Security
All network communication between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Our third-party AI-detection API key is stored only on our backend server and is never embedded in the app or exposed to your device.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect your information from unauthorized access.
Your rights & choices
- Access: You can view your account and subscription details anytime in the Account tab.
- Delete history: Clear individual entries or your entire scan history from the History tab.
- Sign out: Available anytime from the Account tab.
- Delete your account / data: Email us at the address in §12 and we'll delete your account data within a reasonable timeframe.
- Manage your subscription: Cancel or change your plan anytime via Google Play's subscription management, linked from the Account tab.
Children's privacy
Pangram AI Detector is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
